Red Giant campaign: Sydney Observatory

Sydney Observatory wanted to increase visitation, particularly for their night time tours. We could have easily run a standard marketing campaign using images of telescopes and the iconic copper-domes of the Observatory. During a tour, one of the guides spoke about how elements in our bodies were created in stars and the big bang – and that thought was the birth of this idea.

We hit Sydney with a bang, a big bang. On busbacks, at railways stations, in magazines and online, Sydneysiders became increasingly curious about the campaign and had to find out what it was all about.

 

10% of everyone living in Sydney remembered the campaign, over 60% thought it was fun and vibrant and 50% were likely to take some action. By aiming for the stars, this museum marketing campaign had stellar results.
